Goa: State-Level Policy

The Department of Social Welfare is responsible for the welfare of persons with disabilities in the state of Goa. The state has an estimated population of 15,749 persons with disabilities in a total of 1,457,723 people. Goa has framed one scheme under education, six schemes under skill development and employment, five schemes under social security, health, rehabilitation and recreation, and four schemes under schemes and policies for organisations and individuals for disabilities.

Jharkhand: State-Level Policy

According to the 2001 Census, the number of persons with disability amounted to about 4,48,377 which is roughly 3 per cent of the population of 32,966,238 in Jharkhand . The Department of Social Welfare, Women & Child Development is responsible for the welfare of persons with disabilities in Jharkhand.

Uttarakhand: State-Level Policy

The Department of Social Welfare is responsible for the welfare of persons with disabilities in Uttarakhand. The state has 1,94,769 persons with disabilities in a total of 10,116,752. Uttarakhand has issued one scheme under Education, one scheme under Skill Development & Employment and five schemes under Social Security, Health, Rehabilitation and Recreation.
